Champions League Final 2019

 

Central Division Champs Galaxy 11 vs Northeast Division Champs Incredibles

 

In the final game of the 2019 Indoor Futasl Season, both teams were missing some key players. Marielle (Northeast Division Goalie of the Year) filled in to play Goalkeeper for the Incredibles and Melody (Northeast Defensive Player of the Year) played for Alban (2019 Team MVP) on Galaxy 11. Word on the street was that Tyreese from Galaxy 11 was too fearful to take on the Incredibles in this important match up so decided to stay home. 

 

The first half of the game was back and forth with both teams adjusting to playing unfamiliar opponents. Galaxy 11 ended the half with a couple quick tallies, leading 6-3 into the break. Marielle struggled with confidence in the first half, but after an inspired halftime speech by Coach Brock, responded with a much stronger 2nd half. 

 

The Incredibles struggled with the defensive prowess of Melody on Galaxy 11 and fell behind 11-6 with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game. Coach Yuri & Michael took full advantage of the Incredibles struggling offense and with the help of some fancy footwork from Claude (2019 Most Committed Recipient), led their team out to a large lead. But a slick passing play by Coach Brock & Jessica (2019 Northeaset Division Rising Star) set up 2019 Golden Boot Winner, Epitas for the Incredibles 7th goal. This sparked belief that no lead was safe.  

 

Following a patented "Thomas Toe Punt" from Coach Brock that went in off the forehead of Shadrack, it was game on. The Incredibles 2019 team MVP David completed the rally to storm back and tie the game with 1 minute remaining and sent the 2019 Champions League Final into Golden Goal. 

 

After an important win of Rock/Paper/Scissors (over 5 attempts) to see which team would start with the ball, Jr Coach Michael almost ended the game with a shot off the inside of the post, only 8 seconds into the extra frame. Galaxy 11 controlled the first few minutes of play in the extra time session and came out victorious when Michael blasted a shot passed defender Brock, who accidently deflected the ball into his own net, passed goaltender Marielle who was moving the other direction. 

 

Both teams demonstrated great sportsmanship, respect for their opponents and worked hard to represent their respective Divisons well in the Annual Champions League Final.  Congratulations to both teams and especially to Galaxy 11 for the final victory of the 2019 Indoor Futsal Season! 

 

Galaxy 11 was so excited about their win that they left immedietly following the game to tell all their friends and weren't able to pose for a picture with the prestigious Champions League Trophy.
